Torbay Sea School LLP is an established RYA training centre based in the picturesque South Devon fishing port of Brixham. We are a professional Sea School, using instructors with a vast wealth of experience. We specialise in providing customers with a high standard of training, making sure they gain their qualifactions with confidence, whilst having fun as they learn. We offer a large variety of courses ranging from basic introduction to sailing and powerboat, up to the full RYA Yachtmaster qualification.
Our shore-based theory courses are taught in our classroom in Brixham. Our practical sailing courses are normally conducted on our own 2011 Bavaria 36. Our Powerboat courses are conducted in our 7.8 metre Ribcraft with a 200hp Suzuki 4 stroke outboard.
The Principal of Torbay Sea School is Duncan Bridgnell who has spent a career in the Royal Navy and concluded his career as an instructor at the Royal Naval Officer Training College at Dartmouth.
Symon Cater (Tank) is the Chief instructor at Torbay Sea School. An active member of the Salcombe lifeboat crew, Symon has also spent many years sailing different types of yacht and teaching in various RYA schools. He is a fully accredited RYA instructor in Power and Sail as well as being a Helm of the Salcombe inshore lifeboat.
We also employ a variety of freelance RYA instructors who are trained to the highest standard to ensure continuity and professionalism at all times.
