Providing the vital theory required to achieve the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate, this course will equip you with the knowledge required to hold the position of skipper or mate on an ocean passage.
The course consists of 5 days (40 hours) and is an intensive theory course, starting around 0900 and continuing until 1800, with homework and out of session study tasks assigned each day.
Covering astronavigation, ocean passage making, worldwide meteorology and electronic navigational aids to name a few topic areas, this course looks into both traditional and modern passage making equipment and methods, including the use of a sextant.
You should have knowledge and navigation skill to the standard of Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore Theory to enter onto this course.
Price includes tea/coffee, course workbooks & charts. Free loan of navigation instruments if required. You will need to bring a notepad and pen with you and sometimes a calculator is useful.
